How Smoking Is Destroying Your Health?

Smoking is injurious to health. No matter how much people try to defend it, the fact remains. And the alternatives including pipe or cigar are just as harmful. Cigarettes contain around 600 ingredients that generate around 7000 chemicals when burnt. Majority of these chemicals are poisonous with around 69 linked to various types of cancers. Smoking increases the risk of blood cancer, lung cancer, and cervical cancer. Apart from that, it also leads to infertility in both men and women. Not only this, but smoking also causes blood clotting which can lead to a stroke. So, the effects are quite harmful. However, once people develop an addiction, they find it hard to quit smoking. And if they try to quit, the withdrawal symptoms follow. This includes anxiety and irritability. Not to forget anger. I wouldn’t have believed this. But a recent event convinced me that smokers find it hard to quit it. I contacted Xfinity Customer service center and found the rep quite rude. Which was surprising because the company has the most courteous reps. I retaliated. Turned out that the rep was experiencing withdrawal symptoms. Therefore, affecting your personal and professional lives.

Not only this, but the sense of smell and taste of an individual is also affected. This leads to reduced appetite. Perhaps the most obvious effects of smoking are obvious on the skin. Not only does smoking cause dry skin and gives the smoker a dull look, but it also affects the nails. It is very common to find smokers with yellow nails. This gives the individuals an unattractive look. Apart from this, the harmful chemicals in a cigarette (particularly nicotine) also affect the hair. This includes hair loss and in certain cases balding as well. Therefore, it is advised that you take care of your health and avoid smoking. Because if you pay close attention, you will notice that smoking affects almost every system of your body including:

  • Central nervous system
  • Respiratory system
  • Cardiovascular system
  • Integumentary system
  • Sexuality and reproductive system

There is nothing good about it. The sooner you realize it, the better.
